Four-by-four is where cheap cubes usually fall apart, because the inner layers need holding straight and there is nothing to hold them. Magnets are the fix, and the Meilong 4M is one of the few 4x4s at this price to have them fitted at the factory.
Factory-installed magnets make the turning smoother and more controllable, and stop the inner layers drifting out of line. Frosted stickerless exterior. A display stand and screwdriver are in the box.
The Meilong 4M has stayed in the range since 2020 for a reason. It is not the fastest 4×4 made, but it is stable and predictable, which is what somebody learning to solve one actually needs.
It is also the sensible cube on which to learn parity algorithms, the part of 4×4 that puts most people off. Most solvers outgrow it eventually rather than being disappointed by it, and by then they know what they want from a 4×4.
Cubes dry out with use and start to feel scratchy. A few drops of MoYu Lube No.1 5ml keeps the turning smooth and slows the wear.
