Square-1 is one of the official competition events and it is unlike anything else. The puzzle shape-shifts constantly as you turn it, the top and bottom layers are cut into pieces of two different sizes, and none of your 3×3 knowledge transfers.
That makes it either the most interesting event or the most frustrating one, depending on temperament, and the Meilong Square-1 is the puzzle on which to find out. It turns well enough to learn on without costing what a competition Square-1 costs.
The Meilong Square-1 has the Meilong mechanism and build quality in a stickerless finish, and it is not magnetic. Square-1 is one of the few events where that matters less than usual, because the shape itself tells you when a layer is out of line.
Expect to spend an evening on the notation before anything makes sense. After that it becomes addictive.
