The GAN460 M V2 is built around a problem specific to 4×4. The inner layers have nothing holding them straight, so they drift, and a drifted inner layer costs more time than a lock-up. GAN’s answer is to magnetise everything.
One hundred and sixty magnets through the core and pieces, driven by a third-generation turbo magnetic core system. A dual-layer structure stabilises the corners, edges and centres against popping, with extra anti-pop engineering on the corner stalks. A honeycomb contact surface spreads lubricant evenly. Ultrasonic welding, part tolerances quoted at 0.01mm, 60mm and around 110g.
The magnet distribution is uneven by design, stronger on the outer layers and lighter inside. It gives the GAN460 M V2 outer layers that turn almost like a 3×3, while the inner layers stay controllable instead of snapping about.
The core magnets keep the GAN460 M V2’s inner layers in line. On a 4×4 that saves the small corrections that break up a solve more than they do on a 3×3.
Frosted or UV is a surface choice. Frosted is matte with less glare over a long session. UV is glossy, grips harder and resists scratching.
Cubes dry out with use and start to feel scratchy. A few drops of GAN No.1 Lube Maintenance 10ml keeps the turning smooth and slows the wear.
