The GAN249 V2 is small on purpose. At 49mm it sits two millimetres under the 251 and a millimetre under the usual 2×2 standard. That suits smaller hands, and anyone who would rather move a cube quickly than grip it.
Forty-nine millimetres across and 52g. No magnets. Patented fitted tiles instead of stickers, so nothing peels. A primary-coloured plastic core. Honeycomb texturing on the corner contact points to hold lubricant. A brighter colour scheme than the original 249, supplied in a GAN box with a tensioning tool.
The GAN249 V2 has no magnets, and that is worth understanding before you buy. Magnets hold a cube steady at the end of a turn, and most solvers who have tried both prefer having them. What you get instead is a cube that starts moving with no resistance at all, at a fraction of the price of the magnetic 251 range. A fair number of people are perfectly happy with that.
If you want magnets in a GAN 2×2, look at the GAN251M Air and GAN251M Pro.
