The GAN Halo Smart Timer does the bookkeeping that used to interrupt practice. It works out a rolling average of five as you go, dropping the fastest and slowest the way a competition would, so you always know where you stand.
Everything syncs to the CubeStation app over Bluetooth, where solves are stored across devices and turned into trends rather than a list of numbers. It also pairs with GAN smart cubes, so you get the move count alongside the time.
A two-second button freeze stops a stray touch resetting the time you have just set. Solvers are very glad of it, usually about a minute after the first time it saves them.
Timing is accurate to 0.001 seconds, and the timer holds 10,000 solves on its own. The Halo light system gives 90 effects from ten colours. Some flash, so avoid those if you are sensitive to it.
It is rechargeable rather than battery powered, at about 42 hours to a charge. Screws are supplied for fixing it to the GAN Halo Timer Mat (Blue and White) or GAN Halo Timer Mat (Purple and Black), which are the only mats it fits.
